Phillip Young, 49, has been charged with 56 sexual offenses against Joanne Young, including multiple counts of rape and administering a drug with intent to stupefy.

Chairman of the bench, Mr Martin Clarke, told Young that his charges were so serious they could not be dealt with in a magistrates’ court and his case would be sent to Swindon Crown Court, with a hearing scheduled for January 23.
Addressing Young, Mr Clarke said: “You understand everything that has happened here this morning… very short and sweet.
“we are sending [this case] To the crown court. You are sent to custody until that particular time.
Young did not respond as the dock officer handcuffed him and led him to the cells.
He is one of six people to appear in court on Tuesday charged with crimes against Ms Young between 2010 and 2023. Five other people, all on bail, are due to appear at 2pm.
Norman Macsonie, 47, of Wood End Close, Sharnbrook, has been charged with one count of rape and possession of extreme images; Dean Hamilton, 47, of no fixed abode, is charged with one count of sexual assault by rape and penetration and two counts of sexual touching; Connor Sanderson Doyle, 31, of Crofton Road, Swindon, has been charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching.
Richard Wilkins, 61, of Tattershall, Tuthill, Swindon, has been charged with one count of rape and sexual touching and Mohammed Hassan, 37, of Torun Way, Swindon, has been charged with sexual touching.
Monday Night, Geoff Smith, Detective Superintendent Wiltshire Policedescribed the police investigation as complex and extensive.
“Joan has decided to waive her automatic legal right to remain anonymous,” he said.
“They have been supported by specially trained officers since the beginning of the process and they have taken this decision after many discussions with the authorities and support services.”
