This horrific incident came to light on December 15 when local people saw polythene bags filled with body parts near Idgah on Patraua Road in Chandausi and alerted the authorities.
When the police opened the bags, they found that the body was badly dismembered, the head, hands and legs were missing.
“The body was taken into custody and post-mortem was conducted. The forensic team conducted a detailed investigation and DNA samples were collected,” SP KK Bishnoi said.
The victim was later identified as Rahul, a shoe trader from Mohalla Chunni, when investigators saw his name inscribed on one of the severed hands.
Ruby, who lives in Mohalla Chunni, had filed a missing complaint on November 18, stating that her husband Rahul had gone missing. The police got a big clue when they saw the name ‘Rahul’ engraved on a weapon.
Using this, they confirmed the identity of the victim, who is a shoe trader from Chunni area. Ruby was summoned, and during questioning, the authorities found several inconsistencies in her statements, raising suspicions and leading to her arrest and a more thorough investigation.
The police used phone logs, CCTV footage and other technical evidence to piece together everything.
According to the SP, Ruby admitted after interrogation that when Rahul came to know that he was having extramarital affairs, she killed her husband with the help of her lover Gaurav.
During the search, they recovered several items including a cot leg, a scooter, a bag, a toilet brush, an iron rod and an electric heater. Police said the accused told investigators that they attacked Rahul with an iron rod and an iron pestle.
After murdering her, they allegedly brought a cutter and cut the body into several pieces. According to the police, a part of the body was thrown into the drain and the remaining parts were taken to Rajghat and thrown into the Ganga.
Police have recovered the cutter that was allegedly used to mutilate the body, along with an iron hammer and other tools.
Police said Rahul and Ruby were married for 15 years and had two children, a 12-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. The daughter’s statement became very important for the investigation.
She told the police that the three men would often visit their house, sometimes giving her chocolates, and that her parents would often argue.
The accused have been arrested and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code.
