The system involves scanning a unique QR code displayed at catering stalls, which directs passengers to the RailMadad portal. Here, they can log in using their mobile number and lodge complaints related to overcharging, food quality, sanitary conditions and other issues.
This digital initiative streamlines feedback for better service and accountability in railway catering.

Meanwhile, 24×7 Digi Locker facilities have been launched at Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), Thivim (Goa), and Udupi (Karnataka) stations. These smart lockers provide passengers with a secure, self-operated solution for storing luggage.

In another update, the ministry Railwayhas recently announced a new fare structure to be effective from December 26.
According to The Economic Times report, under the revised ticket pricing system, passengers will have to pay 1 paise per km extra in ordinary class and 2 paise per km in Mail/Express non-AC and AC classes for journeys beyond 215 km. Ticket rates have not been increased for people traveling a distance of less than 215 kilometers.
Meanwhile, those traveling 500 kilometers without air conditioning will have to pay extra 10.
However, the Railways has not increased the fares for suburban services and Monthly Season Ticket (MST) holders. Railways anticipates this change Revenue profit of Rs 600 crore.
