New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the 75th Constitution Day celebrations on November 26, an official said on Sunday.
The Speaker held discussions with senior officials of Delhi Police, Public Works Department, Horticulture Department and officials of the Assembly Secretariat.
The Speaker said that Constitution Day is an important reminder of the democratic ideals of the country and directed all departments to ensure impeccable coordination for a dignified and smooth event.
He said, with the preparations complete, the Delhi Assembly is all set to host a memorable and well-organized celebration.
Honoring the historic adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, the Delhi Assembly will celebrate Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) on November 26.
A major highlight of the celebration will be the unveiling of a specially designed coffee table book by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, marking 100 years of Vithalbhai Patel becoming the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly on August 24, 1925.
The book contains rare archival photographs, key documents and selected excerpts from his speeches and writings, highlights from the All India Speakers’ Conference and messages from dignitaries.
Featuring curated archival material on the evolution of India’s legislative institutions and scenes from the modern Parliament, this book serves as a brief but rich tribute to the enduring legacy of Vithalbhai Patel and India’s democratic journey.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will also participate in this program.
Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly Mohan Singh Bisht, Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma will also be present on the stage.
Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta will preside over the program.
As part of the national observance, a three-minute short film prepared by the Central Government on the occasion of the 75th Constitution Day will also be shown.
