Kanker, October 31 (IANS). On the occasion of Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day, a statewide mass housewarming ceremony will be organized under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). The main state level program will be held at Rajyotsav Maidan in Naya Raipur, Atal Nagar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ceremonially hand over newly constructed pucca houses to 3.51 lakh beneficiaries across the state.
On this historic occasion, 6,801 beneficiaries of Kanker district will also enter their new homes. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), construction of more than 3.51 lakh pucca houses has been completed so far in the state.
Kanker District Panchayat CEO Haresh Mandavi said all 6,801 houses constructed under the scheme in the district will be formally inaugurated on November 1. βOn the occasion of State Foundation Day, mass house warming ceremonies will be organized with great enthusiasm and traditional customs in all the development blocks of the district,β he said.
Mandavi said that during the program the newly constructed houses will be decorated with flowers, rangoli and lamps. The housewarming rituals will include traditional prayers and lighting of lamps. Each beneficiary will be given a letter of gratitude, a symbolic ‘Key to Happiness’ and a memento.
He said that this event is being organized on a grand scale under the guidance of Collector Nileshkumar Mahadev Kshirsagar.
Beneficiaries from various Gram Panchayats expressed happiness.
Villager Somaru Dhankad said, “It was very difficult to live in a mud house. During the rains, the roof used to leak and water would enter the house. Now under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, I have got a permanent house and all the problems are over. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi wholeheartedly for this.”
Another beneficiary, Dhan Singh Jain, said, “Earlier, our tile-roofed house was unsafe in every season, especially during the rains when we feared it would collapse. Now I have a permanent house β it is the biggest gift of my life. I thank Prime Minister Modi and the government for this.”
CEO Haresh Mandavi also said that construction work is going on at a fast pace in the district. Although there were some delays due to rain, about 23,000 more houses will be completed soon.
