Dr. Matthew Pitinsky of the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board was hosting a small gathering for his son’s birthday a few weeks ago when things got out of control.
Officers responded to Pitinsky’s Paradise Valley home around 9 p.m. local time that night following reports of underage drinking and a large gathering.
About 500 teenagers were found on Pitinsky’s property, one of whom was sent to the hospital for suspected alcohol poisoning, according to Police Documents obtained by AZFamily.

When police interrogated the teenagers, they said they did not drink alcohol and denied bringing alcohol into the house.
Pitinsky’s neighbor said, “With high school kids it’s hard to tell if they’re acting drunk or drunk.”
Pitinsky told police that if anyone brought alcohol to his son’s gathering, he had hired security to confiscate it.
The crowd was dispersed and no one was charged in the incident.
Pitinsky told AZFamily that the party was supposed to be invite-only, but then his address was shared online.
“Apparently, another party had gone down and those teenagers used social media to try and find our way to our house,” he said.
The school board member said they took “every precaution” to make sure the party was “safe and courteous to our neighbors,” adding that when things escalated, “we collaborated with police to shut it down safely.”
Pitinsky said he believed the incident was “deviant and weaponized” because he is on the school board. His tenure on the board began this year and will run until 2028.
