New Delhi: A 40-member Brazilian Naval War College team discussed bilateral maritime training cooperation with Indian Navy officials during their visit to New Delhi, an official said on Friday.
The visit was part of the Indian Navy’s outreach with key maritime nations.
The delegation from Escola de Guerra Naval (Naval War College) – EGN, Rio de Janeiro, was provided an overview of India’s strategic imperatives by a joint team of Headquarters, Integrated Defense Staff and Indian Navy, the official said in a statement.
“The head of the delegation, RADM Gustavo Leite Cypriano Neves, Commandant, EGN, met RADM Sachin Sequeira, ACOP (HRD). The discussion focused on further enhancing bilateral training cooperation in the maritime domain,” a Navy spokesperson said at the X.
The Brazilian delegation, held at the Naval Headquarters from November 17-19, also visited the National War Memorial, Information Fusion Center – Indian Ocean Region and the National Defense College, the official said.
He said, the visit underlines the strong cooperation between the Indian and Brazilian armed forces.
The visit came soon after the visit of Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi to the US.
During his official US visit, the Navy Chief visited the National Defense University (NDU) at Fort Leslie J McNair, Washington, where he discussed with Vice Admiral Peter A Garvin, Chairman of NDU, on further strengthening defense ties between India and the US.
Admiral Tripathi also met Indian officers deputed for education at the Eisenhower School, National War College (NWC) and College of Information and Cyberspace CICA.
“During his official visit to the US, CNS Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi visited the National Defense University (NDU) at Fort Leslie J McNair and interacted with VADM Peter A Garvin, Chairman, NDU. The discussions focused on issues of professional military education, strengthening ties with higher education institutions between the two defense forces, training exchange of international fellows and military professors, and shared maritime interests to further strengthen India-US defense ties. “During the visit, the CNS also interacted with Indian officials deployed for instruction at the Eisenhower School, the National War College (NWC), and the College of Information and Cybersecurity CICA,” the statement said.
