Four people have been charged and two are wanted in connection with a deadly home invasion in Vaughan in August.

Officers were called to a residence on Andretta Drive near Major McKenzie Drive and Highway 27 around 1 a.m. on Aug. 31. When they arrived, they found 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Faruqui suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators allege that a group of individuals arrived in a Honda CRV that had been stolen in Toronto a few days earlier. The suspects then allegedly forced entry into the home and one suspect had a firearm. During the home invasion, Faruqui was fatally shot.

After this the suspects fled from the spot.

York Police say the motive for the alleged robbery was monetary gain and they believe the incident was targeted.

On the morning of November 10, search warrants were executed at three residences in Toronto and Mississauga. Four people were arrested.

Amir Wiam Mohammed Abuhameed, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with first-degree murder as well as robbery with a firearm, among other charges. He was also charged with probation violation.

The three other suspects arrested, Choszen Roshan Philip, 25, of Toronto, and two 16-year-olds, allegedly drove the stolen vehicle that was used to flee the scene. They are all charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 16-year-old juvenile is also wanted for first-degree murder in addition to other charges in connection with the incident. York Police have received judicial authorization to identify the 16-year-old boy as Jayshawn Williams. Police believe he is still in the GTA.

Jahvon St. Patrick McNarrin, a 34-year-old Toronto man, is wanted for accessory after the fact to robbery with a firearm.

York Police say the investigation is still ongoing and the suspects have still not been located.

The victim’s brother, Naeem Farooqui, thanked York Police for their work in identifying those allegedly responsible for Aleem’s death.

“We hope they will be held accountable for their actions and not shunned by the public. We need to make sure Canadians feel safe in their homes and no other family has to experience the nightmare we have been living through since August 31,” the statement said.

CityNews reported that Faruqi was killed in front of her children during a violent attack on her home.

,[One of the alleged intruders] The daughters were taken at gunpoint. He brought them upstairs. only then [Farooqi] Saw that the other intruder was having physical relations. “He was just shot,” said family friend Ehsan Malik. “As far as I know, he shot him twice.”

Malik said, “This was in front of his daughters. The intruder was bringing his three daughters upstairs at gunpoint. They locked his son in a bedroom and his wife was trying to escape.”

York Police would not confirm those details, but said there were family members in the home at the time of the robbery.
