4 arrested for illegal conversion in UP’s Bahraich

Four people were arrested on charges of illegal conversion from an area under Fakkalpur police station, police said on Saturday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramanand Prasad Kushwaha said: “We arrested one Mansharam, Rambachan and his Wife Neelam and a Reshma and booked them under various sections of IPC and UP Unlawful Conversion Act.”

The FIR was registered based on a complaint from a local official of a right-wing Hindu group.

The FIR stated that the accused threatened the villagers to convert to Christianity.
