Chennai, Nov 17 (IANS) Heavy security arrangements of 3,000 police personnel have been made ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit at the Codissia trade fair complex in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore on November 19.
The city police has intensified surveillance and elaborate preparations are underway to ensure a hassle-free and safe visit of the Prime Minister.
PM Modi will inaugurate a three-day summit organized by various farmer unions across Tamil Nadu, which aims to promote natural and organic farming.
Thousands of participants including leading farmers, innovators, policy makers and agricultural scientists are expected to participate in the event.
A key component of the summit will be the Prime Minister’s interaction with 50 scientists specializing in organic and natural farming.
The summit will also host a large-scale exhibition with 300 stalls showcasing natural farming innovations, sustainable agricultural products and emerging technologies.
Live demonstrations, panel discussions and interactive sessions will highlight youth participation and the growing role of women in natural farming practices.
According to officials, the Prime Minister is scheduled to land at Coimbatore airport in an Indian Air Force aircraft at around 1.25 pm on Wednesday. After addressing the gathering and participating in the inauguration ceremony, he is expected to depart for Delhi at around 3.25 pm
Ahead of the visit, senior police officers conducted a detailed inspection of the Kodisia trade fair complex, reviewing the access points, security infrastructure and crowd management plans. Around 3,000 personnel, including law and order units, intelligence teams, special commando groups, bomb detection and disposal squads, will be deployed throughout the venue and along the Prime Minister’s travel route.
The city is also likely to see traffic changes, tight surveillance and multi-layered security checks on the day of the event.
Police officials said they are coordinating with central agencies to ensure tight security and smooth conduct of the summit.
The hosting of a major national event in Coimbatore and the presence of the Prime Minister has attracted widespread attention, with officials leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the South India Natural Farming Summit goes off without a hitch.
