3 -year -old child drowning in Sandbanks Provincial Park OPP

Ontario Provincial Police says they are investigating after a three -year -old child drowning in a provincial park on Thursday.

Police say the authorities were sent to Sandbanks Provincial Park at around 5:30 pm, when a child went missing while playing with family members in the shallow area of water.

They say that before the arrival of emergency services, the child got the child and the child was taken to the hospital.

Police say that earlier the respondents had attempted life -saving efforts but the child was declared dead.

They say that the child’s identity is not getting out of respect for the family.

The OPP says that they are raising awareness for prevention of sinking this week as the number of drowning in East Ontario this year was doubled in 2024 by this time.
