Three Carabinieri militarized police officers were killed and 13 other Carabinieri and police officers were injured in an explosion when law enforcement carried out an eviction near the Northeast. Italian City of verona Early Tuesday, officials said.
Police said two middle-aged brothers and a sister were detained in connection with the blast in the town of Castell d’Azano, 10 kilometers (6 miles) southwest of Verona.
“While our Carabinieri were carrying out a judicial order, they were hit by the deliberate explosion of a gas tank,” Colonel Claudio Pagano, Verona’s Carabinieri commander, told Sky TG24, calling it an “absolutely insane gesture.” ,
Regional governor Luca Zaia told Sky TG24 that the two-storey farmhouse was filled with gas and exploded when authorities opened the door.
This was the second time authorities attempted to evict the brothers-sisters, who had occupied the abandoned structure about a year ago. Another eviction attempt last year was foiled when the siblings threatened to blow up the house, Zia said.
