Jaipur:

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan has arrested three men in a massive operation against an organ transplant gang that issued fake no-objection certificates (NOCs) in exchange for money.

A staff member of Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur allegedly issued fake certificates for transplant surgeries.

ACB said several NOCs have been issued to foreigners coming to Jaipur for treatment.

Twelve hospitals in the state and several hospitals in Mumbai are under the ACB’s radar.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (ACB) Ravi said that staff and middlemen of SMS Hospital were caught red-handed at the hospital for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 for the National Olympic Committee.

He said the accused include an official of SMS Hospital and organ transplant coordinators of EHCC Hospital and Fortis Hospital.

The state government issued an order on Monday saying that Gaurav Singh, assistant administrative officer of SMS Hospital, has been suspended following his arrest by the ACB.

The ACB said it received complaints that SMS hospital staff colluded with middlemen to issue fake NOCs for organ transplantation without the approval of the relevant committee.

The ACB verified the complaint and sent a team to the hospital on Sunday. There, they caught Gaurav Singh and Anil Joshi, organ transplant coordinators of EHCC hospital, accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000. Three fake NOCs were also found from it.

The team also arrested one Vinod – organ transplant coordinator at Fortis Hospital in Jaipur.
