24 vehicles were challaned, 5 show-causes notices issued in Varamula

In a prescribed push to strengthen road safety measures, Assistant Regional Transport Office Baramulla today launched a comprehensive enforcement campaign with Baramulla -Srinagar National Highway (NH -44).

The purpose of the operation under the leadership of Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Arto) Baramulla, Mohammad Mukhtar Sophie was to curb violations and ensure strict compliance with traffic norms, especially in high-proclaimed and weak areas.

During the drive, the enforcement team released 24 e-chalets for a series of traffic violations. In addition, the drivers and vehicle owners found in serious violations of road safety standards were worked on five show-causes notice.

Special emphasis was laid on inspection of school buses, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles. Various types of infractions were seen, including riding two-wheelers without helmets, unauthorized vehicle modifications, operating commercial vehicles without legitimate fitness certificate, speed limited equipment absence and failure to wear seat belts.

Speaking to the media, Arto emphasized the department’s commitment for road safety and public welfare. He said that the purpose of such a drive is not only punitive, but also educational – their role in preventing passengers more aware of traffic rules and preventing accidents.

“We are committed to creating a safe commuting environment and will continue such enforcement operations regularly,” he said.

The Transport Department has urged all road users to follow traffic laws and cooperate with enforcement teams for a safe and more disciplined road culture in the district.
