The number of people using insurer-provided health services is set to increase by nearly a quarter annually in 2023, according to data from . Association of British Insurers (ABI).
It is estimated that about 2.2 million people used health services provided by the insurer over the year, which is 23% more than in 2022. A.B.I Said.
Customers used these services 10.3 million times for help preventing diseases, managing conditions, receiving treatment or returning to work, a 22% increase from 2022.
Almost half (51%) of the conversations were about prevention, diagnosis and providing prompt care to people.
The analysis also found that employers played an important role in moving forward.
Almost four-fifths (77%) of people who accessed these services did so through workplace schemes.
Services used include remote GP consultation, physiotherapy and tailored exercise plans, mental health counseling and therapy.
The research only included ABI members and the association cautioned that the data included projections, with 2023 seeing some better reporting.
Yvonne Braun, policy director, long-term savings, health and protection at the ABI, said: “Insurers, government and employers all play a vital role in unlocking the full potential of health and protection insurance.
“Our data reinforces the need for a joined-up approach to workforce health that can help boost preventive care, early intervention and timely support delivered through insurance.
