The 6.1 magnitude earthquake was centered in the town of Sindirgi in Balikesir province, according to AFAD, the disaster and emergency management agency.
It hit at 22:48 local time (1948 GMT) at a depth of 5.99 kilometers (3.72 mi).
The earthquake, followed by several aftershocks, was felt in Istanbul and the surrounding provinces of Bursa, Manisa and Izmir.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said at least three vacant buildings and a two-story shop collapsed in Sindirgi.
The structures had already been damaged in the previous earthquake.
According to Balıkesir Governor Ismail Ustaoglu, a total of 22 people were injured due to falls due to panic, which may have been caused by the physical and psychological effects of the earthquake.
“So far, we have not identified any loss of life, but we are continuing our assessment,” Sindirgi district administrator Dogukan Koyuncu told the state-run Anadolu Agency.
