BMW has launched the new-gen X1 in the Indian market as its most affordable SUV offering in the country. The X1 is also the second most accessible BMW car in India after the 2 Series, and continues to put up against the likes of Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA in the country – both of which have been updated in recent years as well.

Dimensions
The BMW X1 is the longest, tallest and widest SUV in this comparison, while the Mercedes-Benz GLA gets the longest wheelbase. Take a look at the exact dimensions of the three luxury SUVs below –

Powertrains
The new BMW X1 is offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor rate at 136 PS/230 Nm, along with a 2.0-litre diesel engine putting out 150 PS power and 360 Nm torque. Power is sent to the front wheels as standard through a 7-speed DCT.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA can be had with either a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine producing 165 PS and 250 Nm, or a 2.0-litre diesel motor that belts out 192 PS of max power and 400 Nm of peak torque. A front-wheel drive configuration is standard, while the diesel motor also gets an optional all-wheel drive system.
Audi offers the Q3 in India with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that has a max power output of 190 PS and a peak torque rating of 320 Nm. The SUV gets Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system as standard.
Price
The new-gen BMW X1 is available in two variants only, priced at Rs 45.90 lakh and Rs 47.90 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. This makes it slightly more affordable than the GLA, but pricier than the Q3. However, the pricing for the three SUVs is more-or-less on par.
