A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump illegally fired two democrats Federal trade commission Earlier this year, in its efforts to control independent agencies in the government.
One of the commissioners, Alvaro Bedoya resigned after sueing for challenging the firing. Other plaintiffs, Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, can now resume their duties as Commissioner as Trump lacks constitutional rights to remove them, the judge ruled on Thursday.
The Trump administration lawyers announced their intentions to appeal almost immediately.
US District Judge Lauren Alkhan, in his written opinion, cited a legal example of decades, including the 1935 US Supreme Court verdicts, including President Franklin D. During the May court hearing in the federal court in Washington, DC, the lawyers of the plaintiff warned against giving the President “the power to remove the absolute on any executive officer”, saying that it would effectively end a significant investigation on his power.
Attorney Aaron Crowwell said, “This has never happened in this country.” “This is not a law. It is never a law.”
But the lawyers of the Trump administration argued that the FTC’s role has expanded since the 1930s, and thus, its members should directly respond to the President.

Trump told Bedoya and slaughter that he was dismissing them as his service on the commission was incompatible with the priorities of his administration, according to the trial.
