The family of a teenage girl say they are “devastated” after her death a month ago, as police said a boy had been arrested on suspicion of molestation.
Madison Richardson, age 13, died at the hospital emergency services On 24 November an address was called in Manchester over welfare concerns.
Greater Manchester Police A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of molestation in the days following Maddison’s death, and was later bailed as the force continued its investigation, it said.
On Christmas Eve, Madison’s family said they were “heartbroken and devastated” by her sudden death. DaughterWhich they called Maddy.
He said, “Maddie was a bubbly, loving person, she made a joke out of everything and brightened up whatever room she was in.” “Maddy had a laugh that everyone will remember! Maddy filled every room with her presence, she was fun to be around and she always made us laugh. Maddy had a true passion for the arts, she was very talented, and we are incredibly proud of her creativity.
“Maddie was truly one of a kind, she had a heart of gold and was fiercely protective of those she loved, especially her siblings, who will miss her deeply.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Madison’s death.
James Docherty, acting head teacher of Teenage Kicks School, said Madison was “an amazingly creative young girl who saw the world through colour, ideas and imagination.”
Describing her passion for art, Mr Docherty said: “Whether she was sketching, painting, or transforming herself with her incredible face-painting skills, Maddie had the gift of transforming ordinary moments into something magical. Her talent was remarkable.
“Maddy didn’t just make beautiful art – she made people feel special. Even when she was boasting, you knew deep down she didn’t mean it and she was soon back at the office door asking for something. There was a gentleness to her, a kindness that flowed naturally, and it affected students and staff alike.
“Maddie will always be a part of our school family, and she will remain in our memories with love, pride, and endless appreciation for the light she brought into our lives.”
Detective Inspector Andrew Day, of GMP’s Oldham district, said: “Madison’s death is extremely tragic for her friends and family, and I know they are continuing to mourn as they celebrate their first Christmas without her. Our thoughts are with them all at this time.”
They added: “We are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of Madison’s death, including whether someone else’s actions may have contributed to it, and ultimately, trying to get much-needed answers for her family.”
