Designed and issued by the Department of Posts, the special customized stamp was unveiled by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
Apart from the Defense Minister, Director General Postal Services Jitendra Gupta, Director Rajneesh ‘Razi’ Ghai, Farhan AkhtarRitesh Sidhwani, Amit Chandra and Arhan Bagti were also present on this occasion.
Akhtar shared pictures of the event on his Instagram handle and thanked the minister for inaugurating the ticket.
“What better way to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our fallen soldiers. Today, the Indian Postal Service commemorated the Battle of Rezang La by issuing a new mystamp In memory of this. Thanks to Honorable Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh Ji for sparing time for the inauguration. We are extremely grateful,” he wrote.
‘My Stamp’ celebrates the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers who laid down their lives at Rezang La. Located in Chushul, Ladakh, the Rezang La War Memorial serves as a memory of the incredible courage of the soldiers and an everlasting reminder of their valor.
Directed by Rajneesh Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Amit Chandra, the upcoming film 120 Bahadur It is based on the Battle of Rezang La. It stars Farhan Akhtar in the role of Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Shaitan Singh Bhati.
Under Bhati’s leadership, 120 Indian soldiers defeated an overwhelming Chinese army at Rezang La in 1962.
Recalling that heroic moment, Lieutenant General DD Saklani (retd) said, “When the Chinese attacked in huge numbers and death was written all over, these brave Ahirs stood firm to the last man in the last round, although they had a chance to retreat and roll down the reverse slopes of the ridge and save their lives. No, they did not,” India Today reported.
Lieutenant General Saklani was the last army officer to speak to Bhati, who led the Indian Army at the Battle of Rezang La.
The upcoming film, releasing on November 21, also stars Raashi Khanna, Vivaan Bhatena, Ajinkya Dev and Ejaz Khan.
