116 vehicles were invoiced, 35 Kupwara was blacklisted in traffic enforcement drive

Kupwara, July 19: Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kupwara on Saturday carried out a major enforcement campaign in several routes in the district, in which a fine of ₹ 2.10 lakh was imposed for various traffic violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the day-long operation, the enforcement teams inspected more than 350 vehicles including Kupwara-Lolab, Kupwara-Tangdhar, Kupwara-Sopore, Kupwara-Sogam, Kupwara-Kralpora, Kupwara-Kalaros, and Kupwara-Hotra.

The enforcement drive led a variety of crimes for e-challan of 116 vehicles such as over-speeding, without seatbelt or helmet without driving, rented overcharging, non-functional speed limited equipment (SLD), plying without route permits, and the absence of high-protection registration plates (HSRPS). In addition, 35 vehicles were blacklisted, and recommendations for suspension of six driving licenses and three road permits – all within a single day.

Giving more information, Arto Kupwara, Mohammad Shafait said that the campaign was part of an intense statewide enforcement campaign, which was being done according to the instructions of Transport Commissioner Jammu, Kashmir, Vishal Paul Mahajan. He said that a similar drive will be done regularly in the entire district to promote road safety and ensure strict adherence to traffic rules.

Arto Shafait urged drivers and passengers to strictly follow traffic rules and adopt road safety practices to help reduce accidents and protect life.

The enforcement drive was organized by teams working under Arto Kupwara’s direct care, and the ground was led by MVI Wahid -ul -Islam, MVI Karan Kumar, Amvi Arun Kav and SMVI Adil Ahmed.
