Indian American Impact, the nation’s leading advocacy group supporting Indian and South Asian Americans in politics, has expanded its support to 11 more candidates in six states. At this point, major advocacy groups have expanded their list of supported candidates to 35 candidates in 2024.

The latest endorsement marks a significant expansion of the organization’s support network as it continues its mission of promoting diverse representation in American politics.

Speaking about the latest endorsement, Indian American Impact’s national political director Taher Hassanali expressed pride in the organization’s support network.

“Today, we are proud to unequivocally support 11 Indian and South Asian Americans in six states running for office at all levels of local and state government: from city council to state Senate,” Hassanali said.

With these additions, Indian American Influence now supports a total of 35 candidates for the 2024 election cycle.

The newly endorsed candidates include a mix of incumbents and new faces, covering a range of positions from City Council to the State Senate.

Here are some of the candidates supported by Indian-American influencers.

In Arizona, incumbent Ravi Shah was endorsed by the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board.

Ashwin Ramaswami nominated for Georgia’s 48th State Senate District.

In New York, incumbents Zohran Mamdani and Jeremy Cooney were endorsed for State Assembly District 36 and State Senate District 56, respectively.

The state of Ohio approved current Judge Pavan Parikh to serve as Hamilton County Clerk of Courts.

In Pennsylvania, incumbent Nikil Saval was endorsed for state Senate District 1.

The state of Texas has several accreditations, including:

Sumbel Zeb serves as Collin Central Appraisal District board member

Taral Patel represents Fort Bend County Commissioners Precinct 3

Nabil Shike, current Fort Bend County Constable District 3

Ashika Ganguly represents Austin City Council District 10

Suleman Lalani, current member of the 76th District of the State House of Representatives.

The support of these candidates reflects Indian American Influence’s commitment to increasing the representation of Indian and South Asian Americans in elective offices across the country.

Indian American Impact has supported candidates since its inception in 2016 and has endorsed 166 candidates to date.

In earlier cycles, Indian-American influence supported Pramila Jayapal, the first South Asian woman elected to the U.S. Congress. Jayapal is seeking re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington.
