Eleven Indian nationals who were held hostage in Nepal for more than a month on the pretext of sending them to the United States have been rescued and seven Indian agents have been arrested for their role in the racket, police sources said on Wednesday.

The 11 people were held hostage in a rented house in Latopur area on the outskirts of Kathmandu for more than a month.

Following a tip-off, a special police team was dispatched from the Kathmandu District Police Range to carry out the operation.

Sources at the Kathmandu district police training ground said detailed reports were awaited as the operation was still ongoing.
