On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, a total of 1,090 personnel of Police, Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defense (HG & CD) and corrective services have been awarded with valor and service medals for their extraordinary contribution and dedication to their extraordinary contribution and duty.
The honor includes 233 Medal for Gallantry (GM), 99 President’s Special Service (PSM), and 758 Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Medal for valor is honored for rare or specific acts of bravery in saving life, the risks faced in the line of duty are considered to protect property, prevent crime, or catch criminals.
Among the 233 Bravery Awards, 152 personnel are from Jammu and Kashmir region, 54 from leftist extrem-influential areas, three from north-east and 24 from other areas. The recipients include 226 police personnel, six from fire services and one from home guard and one from civil defense.
The President’s medal for prestigious service is honored for a special and prestigious record in service, while the medal for meritorious service recognizes the valuable service marked by the resource resources and dedication to duty.
Of the 99 PSM recipients, 89 are from police services, from five fire services, three from civil defense and home guard and two from improvement services. Of the 758 MSM recipients, 635 belong to police services, firefighter services from 51, 41 civil defense and home guard, and 31 reform services.
These awards highlight the unwavering commitment and courage of the personnel all over India that make tireless efforts to protect life, maintain orders, and maintain the rule of law.
