Srinagar, 09 August: Acting on a reliable tip-off, Yameen-ul-Nabi, Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, as well as Show Paramora Rabinder Singh, with local numbers, and other concerned officials seized 1,000 kg meat from Hajibagh Sherif Abad, AK Enterprises Cold Store at HMT.
The illegally stored consignment was confiscated and the cold store was immediately sealed in the presence of police, local administration and food security officials.
Just a day earlier, Food Minister, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Satish Sharma warned that “anyone involved in such activities would have to face strict legal action and will be brought to justice.”
Officials revealed that the consignment recovered today was linked to the earlier illegal meat in Novam, where a similar stock was released on the roadside. Through a rapid investigation, the same consignment was detected to Sharad Abad, which mark a great success on illegal meat trade.
Public health officials have urged citizens to report any suspected food storage or sale to be vigilant and ensure the security of the community.
