New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS) Art, Culture and Languages Minister Kapil Mishra announced after a meeting with Purvanchal Morcha on Tuesday that Chhath Puja will be celebrated at more than 1,000 places across Delhi this year.
He also reviewed the preparations for ‘Chhath Puja 2025’ during the meeting with Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha and other members of the Morcha.
Mishra said Chhath Puja this year will be the most massive celebration ever in the city.
He said that after many years, special arrangements are being made for Chhath Puja at Yamuna Ghats, due to which there is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees.
Apart from the Yamuna ghats, grand celebrations will be organized at four major places – Dwarka, Hathi Ghat, Pitampura and Sonia Vihar, he said.
He said that special arrangements are being made at all Chhath Ghats to promote the folk culture and traditions of Purvanchal.
He said, the Department of Art, Culture and Languages has invited artistes to present folk songs, dances and cultural programs at more than 200 venues across Delhi.
Majestic entrance gates, idols of Chhath Maiyya and Surya Dev and decorative lights decorating the ghats will create a devotional and festive atmosphere and ‘model Chhath ghats’ are being developed at some key locations as examples of ideal decorations and facilities, Mishra said.
He mentioned that to simplify the process of obtaining necessary permissions and NOCs for Chhath Ghats, a single window clearance system has been implemented – similar to the system previously used for large-scale events such as Kanwar Yatra, Ganesh Utsav, Durga Puja and Ramlila.
A nodal officer will be appointed in each municipal corporation area to coordinate and monitor the arrangements. “The MCD has been directed to deploy adequate sanitation staff for regular cleaning of the ghats to ensure a comfortable experience for the devotees,” he said.
Emphasizing on maintaining cleanliness at Chhath Ghats, the Minister directed officials to ensure availability of mobile toilet vans, ambulances and fire safety measures at all major places.
He said the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of security and barricading at the ghats, while the Fire Department, NDMC and MCD will ensure compliance with safety standards.
The minister also directed the concerned departments to make arrangements for breakfast and drinking water for the devotees after morning arghya (offering to the sun).
