Officials are investigating a deadly fire which took a person’s life in Ajax late Friday evening.
According to Durham Regional Police Service, emergency employees were initially called to a report of a person in a house in the area of Tuntan Road East and Salem Road at around 11:10 pm for the report of a person armed and threatened by his family.
The officers reached the spot for an active fire at the residence.
According to police, many people were safely removed from home and neighboring houses were vacated. One person was declared dead on the spot.
No other physical injuries were reported.
The police have not yet released the identity of the victim and are still working to determine the circumstances of their death.
Ontario Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation.
