1 dead, dozens of sick in wrash of legonars disease in London

Public health officials in London, Ontaras, say that one person has died and more than 40 has become ill in the outbreak of Legonars’ disease.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit reports that most of the 43 cases were reported in the last week and are concentrated in a six-kilometer radius towards the south-east of the city.

Legonaires disease is a serious respiratory disease caused by legionella bacteria, which can cause pneumonia. Symptoms may cause high fever and cold.

The health unit states that bacteria are naturally found in water sources, such as water tanks and cooling towers, and working to identify the source of current outbreaks.

Last year, the outbreak of similar disease in London was infected with 30 people and two deaths.

The health unit is reminiscent of all business owners and property managers to maintain and clean its cooling devices to maintain regular and prevent future outbreaks.

Public Health Ontario says that most of the cases of legionalosis in the province take place between June and September, in July, the highest number of cases are usually counted in July.

It states that Legonela bacteria are “omnipresent” in the environment, and most cases in Ontario are “sporadic and are not associated with an recognized outbreak.”
