currently The CBI, in a statement on Thursday, October 16, said the officer, serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Ropar range in Punjab, was arrested along with a private named Krishna, who was allegedly working as a middleman.
Rs 5 crore cash, luxury cars, firearms seized
Major seizures were made in raids at various places in Punjab and Chandigarh linked to the DIG. officers seized almost ₹5 crore in cash (and counting), 1.5 kg of jewellery, and documents related to immovable properties.
Keys of two luxury cars Mercedes and Audi and 22 luxury watches were also found.
According to the agency, they also found locker keys, 40 liters of imported liquor and several firearms including a double barrel gun, a pistol, a revolver and an airgun with ammunition.
From the middleman’s residence, ₹21 lakh cash was also recovered.
The agency said that the search is still going on and further investigation is underway.
